Such an amazing Tuesday. Wanna know why?
Most of the day I felt like this...
And a little of this...
And even some of this.
Guys I got accepted to grad school.
Me AND my roommate LIZ!
Literally the day I've been dreaming of four four straight years has come.
I can't really begin to tell you what this day has meant to me. Not only did I receive this amazing news, and quite honestly I didn't know if this was even possible, but the amount of love and support I've gotten because of it is what is really blowing me away.
It's amazing to me how true a friendship shows when it's not even your friend's good news they are jumping for joy over.
Why I love social media: Someone who you aren't even super close with can make your day. Or, a group of people - doesn't matter. It brings people together in more ways than one.
But let me take a minute to talk to you about good news. Whether it is yours, or someone else's: Don't go overboard. There is a difference between bragging and being proud of yourself. It is okay to be proud of what you have worked extremely hard for. In fact, I encourage you to recognize the things you have put in effort towards in your life. That said, please know that it is not always your turn. Other people need to have the spotlight too. And, when it's done being your turn, go be happy for someone else's good news. Because odds are, if you genuinely share in their happiness, you'll feel amazing too. That's part of being a good friend. Next time when it's their big news, you'll be able to celebrate with them even if you had a crappy day, because you remember how good they made you feel on yours. Lift up your friends when they need it and be there for them when they need to share something big in their life.
And don't forget: Take time to dance. You deserve it.
Stay swaggy like little Drake over here ;)
XO
Amanda
