It's Friday Fridayyy. Gotta get down on Fridayyy.
Sorry, I had to.
I started out today with the intention of finishing up two goals I've been putting off for some time now:
1. Get organized!!!
2. Take it a little bit easier today. Your body will love you for it.
And those my friends, are the two exact things I did.
My desk is all neat and tidy, and I'll actually be getting to bed before 1am!
It's all about bracketing out your time. If you know you'll spend two hours tabling, then give yourself two hours of studying, a half hour of organizing, and a half hour of doing something for yourself, whatever that may mean.
So let's start off with tabling. Day three of HC Gives Love, and people were so sweet as they read the little notes on the back of their free candies. How can you not smile when you know you made someone's day a little brighter?
Afterwards, I tidied up my room, and my work desk so I could feel more at ease for my upcoming busy week of exams and papers. I know I'll thank myself later for that.
I met up with Liz at the union, and we both powered-through a ton of work we had. Just getting it done early made me feel a little bit ahead than before. I have about a 350 pager due next Thursday on top of all those tests, so every little bit will help until then. Listening to my study playlists (best one on 8tracks: 100 songs later) and typing up a storm definitely made the time go by fast. Now, it was time to head home for some dinner, and the show tonight!
Also at the union, Campus Women's Organization was putting on the annual Vagina Monologues - a comedy about women telling true stories of their bodies, and relationships. This year, one HC member was an actress, so a few of us got together to cheer her on.
To open the show, the Vokols performed a few acapella tunes, one being one of my favorite Beatles songs I want to hold your hand. I used to play this a lot on guitar, but never got the chance to sing it out in public. It really makes me smile every time I hear it, so naturally I've caught myself humming it all night after that.
Back to the actual Vagina Monologues... Such a great show this year! Hats off to all the actresses - you made the show interactive and emotional all at the same time.
Now this happened to be my "me" time of the day believe it or not. Though surrounded by crowds of people, I felt like watching this performance still helps me realize some parts of me I forget about from time to time. Like, being open and honest with yourself. That's one of the messages of the show, and I felt like watching it tonight helped me remember to do just that. That's why I still considered it to be my Amanda time, because I got to take away something simply from going out and doing something different for a night. Plus, hanging out with the HC team is always a good time, and to me that's a win in and of itself.
Time for bed loves! See ya again Saturday!
Ta ta for now,
XO
Amanda
